Garuda Indonesia is the flagship flight carrier ofIndonesia, with a corporate mission to support national economic development, and a vision to serve customers with the warmth of Indonesian hospitality. In 2009, Garuda overhauled its global brand image with the unveiling of a new aircraft fleet, service concept and a fresh corporate identity; to mark the start of its transformation into one of the most successful and profitable airlines in Asia. In the same year, the airline was awarded a 4-star rating by Skytrax, the global benchmark for airline service standards.
In recognition of Garuda’s upholding of best global practices, in the areas of flight operations, aircraft maintenance and safety management systems; it received the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification in 2008.
Garuda’s international achievements include being listed by Skytrax as Quality Approved Airlines. In 2010, the airline was also named as the World’s Most Improved Airline and took the title of “The Best in Achieving Total Costumer Satisfaction” by ICSA. Locally, it claimed top honours for winning the Indonesia Best Brand Platinum Award.
Flight Route and Fleet Strength
Garuda flies an average of 93,000 flights each year, covering a total of 49 destinations throughout Asia, of which 32 are domestic and 17 are international flights. Specifically for Singapore, there are 8 daily flights to Jakarta and 1 daily flight to Bali and Makassar.
The airline utilises, predominantly, Airbus fleet of A330s for flights to Amsterdam, East Asia and Australia. For domestic flights and international flights to Middle East, Garuda flies the Boeing 737s fleet and Boeing 747s respectively. It also has plans to use the Boeing 777-300ERs for non-stop flights to Europe andUnited States.
Flight Class and In-flight Speciality
Passengers flying the airline’s Business class can expect to be pampered with a 74” seat pitch complete with flat-bed seats. Each seat features an 11-inch touch screen LCD with Audio-Video on Demand system, personal power supply and reading light.
To further enhance the flight experience for its distinguished Business Class customers, privileged access to the JetQuay CIP Terminal is made available, although this service is exclusively for tickets issued inSingapore only. A personal porter will be at your side to attend to your needs and provide assistance during customs clearance.
As part of its transformation, it introduced the signature Indonesian Rijsttafel in-flight service in 2011. Guests are treated to an exquisite menu of famous Indonesian cuisine, comprising of nasi kuning, accompanied with a dazzling choice of side dishes such as satay, rendang, gado-gado, grilled chicken rica, red snapper in yellow acar sauce, fried sambal shrimp and crackers.
All seats onboard the Economy class come with a 9-inch touch screen entertainment system, where passengers get to choose and enjoy from a wide range of movies, TV Programmes, music and interactive games.
